We've suspended more than 50 accounts today for GitHub repository star inflation fraud. Over the past few weeks, we've been manually checking every repository submitted for our developer credits program against star-history.com to identify unnatural star growth patterns. Even if you deleted your repository URL from your profile page, we still have complete records of every repo that was submitted.

The patterns were extremely easy to identify. Many users showed very steep star growth within just 1-2 days, which is a clear indicator of using star inflation services. We took a somewhat lenient approach with borderline cases—if your repository had around 50 stars and showed some unnatural growth but wasn't completely artificial, we let it pass. We also gave long-term repositories that have been active for several years the benefit of the doubt, even if there were some questionable spikes in their star history.

However, the cases we suspended were completely obvious. We're talking about repositories that went from nearly zero stars to 100+ stars within a single day window. There's no legitimate way this happens organically. These accounts received immediate permanent suspension without question. This is fraud, plain and simple, and it violates the terms you agreed to when applying for developer credits.

These suspensions are permanent. Do not contact us or open support tickets attempting to appeal or explain. We manually reviewed every single case before taking action. The evidence is clear and the decision is final.
