Hello FOSSVPS Team,
I am writing to request a free VPS. I am a developer passionate about open source, currently focusing on data science and MLOps (Machine Learning Operations). Thank you so much for the valuable resources you provide to the community; this VPS will greatly help me explore and contribute to the FOSS toolchain.
Here are my application details:
What open-source software do you want to run on your VPS?
I plan to use this VPS as a lightweight MLOps experimental platform. I will be running the FOSS software stack 100% of the time:
1Panel (GPLv3 License): I will deploy 1Panel first. This is an excellent open-source Linux server management panel. I will use it to simplify Docker, firewall, and file management, allowing me to focus more on upper-layer applications.
Docker: As the core containerized environment, used to isolate and deploy my data science projects.
JupyterLab: I will be running JupyterLab in a Docker container, which is my primary FOSS tool for data analysis, model training, and visualization.
Scikit-learn / Pandas / NumPy: My core work will involve using the scikit-learn library to train and evaluate small machine learning models (such as Gradient Boosting Trees and Random Forests, as you mentioned). These models run very efficiently on a 2c/4G configuration.
I am actively involved in the data science and Python open-source community, primarily by sharing reproducible research and reporting technical issues.
Proof of Contributions:
Analysis/Tutorials: I have published several specific projects on my GitHub, such as 1Panel, model training, etc.
Having a stable FOSSVPS environment allows me to run 1Panel and my Jupyter service, and securely share my experimental environment and results with the community, which is very beneficial for promoting the application of FOSS in the field of data science.
I hope to use London (NAT) — OnlyServers. This configuration (2 vCore, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD) is ideal for my lightweight data science experiments and 1Panel setup.
I fully support NAT IPv4.
I don't need a dedicated IPv4. I plan to access the 1Panel WebUI and JupyterLab services via NAT port forwarding provided by FOSSVPS. All my model training is a backend task and doesn't require a direct public IP. The 10 Gbps port at this location is also attractive for downloading Docker images and datasets.
